How do you actually tell if a PPF shop is solid before booking?
Thinking about getting paint protection film on my car this season and I want to avoid the usual marketing noise. For those who already went through it, what quality signs do you look for when choosing a PPF installer? Trying to figure out what really matters before I commit.

From what I gathered while reading around, the film itself is only half the story, the install quality matters just as much. A decent shop will openly talk about brand of film, thickness, warranty length, and whether the edges are wrapped or cut on the panel. If they avoid those questions, that is usually a sign to keep looking.
Sacramento has a few options in the 95814 and surrounding zip codes, and while comparing local paint protection film installers I noticed the more honest ones break the price down by coverage area, full body versus partial like hood, bumper and mirrors, and by vehicle size, since a truck obviously eats more film than a sedan.
Things I personally pay attention to are self healing behavior under warm water, UV resistance claims backed by a manufacturer warranty, and clean edge work around headlights and badges. Gloss retention after a year tells you more than any showroom photo.
