Shopping vocabulary in English
Something slightly embarrassing happened to me recently that pushed me to start paying attention to shopping vocabulary in English. I was traveling and went into a small clothing store, and the cashier asked me a couple of simple questions about sizes and payment. I understood the general idea, but I got stuck answering because I didn’t know the exact words for things like exchanging items or asking if something was available in another color.

What helped me a lot was repeating the phrases aloud and imagining a real situation while practicing. For example, when I studied shopping vocabulary I pretended I was asking a shop assistant questions about prices or sizes. Another thing that helped was practicing sentences using a simple AI tool. Late at night when I want to check if I remember the expressions correctly, I sometimes open something online that helped me practice words for shopping to learn and try building short conversations there. It’s not exactly like talking to a real person, but it’s useful when you want to test your memory without pressure. Over time I noticed that these small exercises make a big difference because the vocabulary becomes automatic. The most important thing I realized is that consistency matters more than long study sessions. Even ten minutes a day reviewing phrases like “Can I try this on?” or “Is there a discount?” helps your brain recognize patterns. I also recommend paying attention when you watch movies or videos in English because you’ll hear the same shopping phrases repeated naturally. After a while you start noticing them everywhere, and that’s when they really stick in your memory.
